Artist Statement

The spontaneous, instinctual, and candid way in which I take photographs aims to later be able to analyze aspects of my life. Whether using a digital or film camera, photographs not only allow me to slow time down, but “crop” and “zoom in” to ensure I am able to see as many details and overlooked moments. Photography is my way of comparing my visual reactions to life to the way I communicate with others in it. My goal with my work is for people to change the way they look at the world around them.

Biography

Ariane grew up in Westchester County, New York. In the fall of 2013, she began studying at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque originally pursuing a career in physical therapy. Ariane always thought of photography as just a hobby and never dreamed of it being anything more. After taking a few photography classes at UNM, Ariane graduated with her BFA in Art Studio with a focus in photography as well as a BA in psychology. She plans to receive her MFA in the near future, but until then, she will continue to immerse herself within the art community, maintain her personal art practice, and learn from others.
